"The purpose behind the group is amazing! The kids are normally used to volunteers who handle playtime games so the STEM initiatives were very different but still enjoyable. We are constantly looking for more volunteers to come by so we were really happy to see the kids engaged in the books and the anatomy projects! We hope the group comes by again."-Jacqueline Hampton, Volunteer Coordinator at Dallas Life Homeless Shelter

“We’ve been working with the STEMStars Literacy Foundation a few times now, and each time, we have a different set of foster kids that love the group. It’s important to help them, during this time of financial and emotional instability, so we are always encouraging volunteers who want to tutor or help these kids one-on-one. We commend this organization's purpose and are so proud that such young people are getting involved to bridge the gap between one’s financial status and having an education.” -Dekeschia Moss, Volunteer Coordinator at Hope Door’s New Beginning

“The kids were very excited to get involved with all the different activities aligned with a unique STEM concept, and they absolutely loved the CodeBots which is something they had never seen before. I feel like a lot these kids don’t have as much interest in learning as they used to before they were displaced, so it is important with the support of groups like the STEMstars Literacy Foundation who work to reignite a passion in STEM through creative maker spaces and interactive games.” -Pamela Culbertson, Education Coordinator at Journey to Dream Home

“We loved working with the STEMstars Literacy Foundation! Whether it was through maintaining proper communication or planning their own events with our schedules accordingly, the group and their fellow volunteers did a great job with handling so many kids and implementing some hands-on kid-friendly STEM activities. The kids were really happy as well with the books and they asked a lot of questions in trying to better understand the human body or even rocket science. We hope to continue to work with this foundation in the future as well.” -Maggie Rios, Volunteer Coordinator at Mosaic Family Services

“We mainly work to offer educational opportunities for children in rural areas in India with little access to schooling or any educational services. Through setting up a chapter of the organization with a group of volunteers and being able to use resources provided by STEMstars Literacy Foundation, we were delighted to share the childrens books in literacy classes for the kids as well as incorporate ideas for affordable STEM activities. We hope to continue to see what other work we can do such as creating care packages and building some facilities in these unprivileged areas in India as well. Continue the great work!” -Seema Chetal, Director of Volunteer Relations at Vibha, an NGO based in India

“As an organization that works to help make education have a greater focus on sustainability within the Canadian education system, we haven’t worked too much with teaching underprivileged kids, so we were happy to work with a non-profit and start a chapter to cater to their purpose. Our volunteers launched expeditions related to nature as well as incorporated science experiments among the children we work with. Many of the kids showed a keen interest in the activities, and we wish the organization the best of luck as they continue to serve disadvantaged children.”-Donna Cansfield, Volunteer Coordinator at Learning for a Sustainable Future, Ontario, Canada
